Day Tripping Routes

Come see nature and imagination mingle

Many artists and artisans find their creative inspiration in the natural beauty of the County of Frontenac. Among the small towns and villages, working studios abound housing original pieces of visual arts, weaving, woodworking, stained glass, photography, mixed media, pottery, jewellery and more. The local landscape of lakes, tall trees, rolling hills and nature's palette are featured in many of the final creations. A number of galleries and community studios in the region showcase the work of several local artists together. Throughout the year studio tours and exhibitions are scheduled. Best of all is the opportunity to visit with the artist and share in the enthusiasm and passion for their craft before picking up a one-of-a-kind creation to take home.

On The Road…To Paddling the Waterways

Lakes and rivers are in abundance throughout the Frontenacs and a canoe or kayak provides a great way of exploring them. A half an hour drive to Frontenac Provincial Park, and you will be silently dipping your paddle and moving gently through the water. The extensive paddling routes make it possible to escape for a day - or longer. Stop for a swim and a picnic. Participate in a skills course. Drop in a fishing line and see what you can catch. No equipment? No problem. One of the local outfitters will be able to provide you with everything you need. It couldn't be easier to get on the water.

On The Road…To Accessible Wilderness

The Frontenacs offer accessible wilderness at every turn. The region's provincial parks, conservation areas, boat launches and public beaches mean that you can be hiking a nature trail or catching the big one, less than half an hour drive from your hotel. Imagine seeing deer in their natural habitat, watching birds of prey soaring overhead, listening to the call of the loon while sitting alongside the lake, or diving off a granite outcrop into clear blue waters. Geo-caching will give you the opportunity to experience modern day treasure hunting. In the evening the night skies present opportunities for stargazing without the pollution of city lights. Escape for a day and connect with nature. It will refresh and renew you!
